Lotta, Mondiali 2015: Chamizo per scrivere una nuova pagina di storia
Il 2015 può già essere considerato l’anno della consacrazione di Frank Chamizo con i colori azzurri: il lottatore di origine cubana, infatti, ha esordito con la vittoria della medaglia d’oro ai Campionati Europei Under 23, competizione che ha vissuto quest’anno la sua prima edizione, per poi continuare con la storica medaglia d’argento dei Giochi Europei di Baku. Successivamente, Chamizo ha anche ottenuto il secondo posto al Grand Prix di Madrid ed il primo all’Open di Polonia, dove ha sconfitto addirittura il russo Soslan Ramonov, campione mondiale in carica.
Anche ai Campionati Mondiali 2015 di Las Vegas, dunque, Chamizo rappresenterà la principale speranza di medaglia per l’Italia, ed anche in questo caso il genovese d’adozione avrà la possibilità di scrivere una pagina di storia: gli atleti azzurri, infatti, mancano dal podio iridato da nove anni e dal bronzo di Francine De Paola a Guangzhou 2006, in Cina. Oltre al numero cinque mondiale della categoria 65 kg, la squadra azzurra della lotta libera maschile potrà contare anche su Salvatore Mannino (57Kg), Carmelo Lumia (74Kg), già argento a Madrid e bronzo a Sassari, ed Aron Caneva (86Kg), bronzo a Madrid e quinto agli Europei junior.
Tra i campioni di Tashkent 2014, saranno assenti i russi Khetik Tsabolov (70 kg) e Denis Tsargush (74 kg), ma anche il nordcoreano Yang Kyong-Il (57 kg).
