Lotta, Mondiali 2015: Timoncini leader della greco-romana azzurra
Numero nove del ranking mondiale dei 98 kg, il faentino Daigoro Timoncini sarà, anche ai Campionati Mondiali di Las Vegas 2015, il leader della lotta greco-romana per i colori azzurri. Il trentenne fu l’unico italiano a partecipare alle Olimpiadi di Londra 2012, e vanta dunque un’esperienza importante rispetto agli altri componenti della nazionale. In questa stagione, i suoi risultati migliori sono arrivati al Grand Prix d’Ungheria ed al torneo internazionale di Sofia, dove ha conquistato due medaglie d’argento, risultati che hanno cancellato i dubbi e le inquietudini dopo l’infortunio che lo aveva fermato al termine dello scorso anno. In queste due occasioni, Timoncini è stato sconfitto solamente da due campioni iridati come il magiaro Balázs Kiss e l’armeno Artur Aleksanyan.
La squadra azzurra di greco-romana sarà composta anche da altri tre elementi. Il ventenne Riccardo Abbrescia (75 kg) arriverà a questo Mondiale reduce dagli ottimi risultati nella categoria junior, nella quale ha ottenuto un argento in Bulgaria. Fabio Parisi (85 kg), classe 1992, ha invece vinto quest’anno una medaglia di bronzo al Grand Prix di Madrid, mentre la squadra è completata dal ventiduenne Davide Cascavilla (66 kg).
Come negli altri stili, anche nella greco-romana ci sarà grande spettacolo, con tutti gli otto campioni dello scorso anno che saranno presenti, compreso il cubano Mijaín López Núñez, due volte campione olimpico e cinque volte campione mondiale della massima categoria di peso.
