World Rugby Awards 2016: trionfo della Nuova Zelanda con tre riconoscimenti!

Si è svolto a Londra (Inghilterra) la cerimonia dei World Rugby Awards 2016, i prestigiosi riconoscimenti che vengono assegnati annualmente ai migliori interpreti del rugby, maschile e femminile, a quindici e a sette (olimpico). La Nuova Zelanda e il Sudafrica sono stati i Paesi più premiati (3), anche se gli oceanici hanno portato a casa i riconoscimenti più importanti: miglior giocatore, miglior allenatore e miglior squadra.

World Rugby Women’s Player of the Year – Sarah Hunter (Inghilterra)

World Rugby Team of the Year – Nuova Zelanda

World Rugby Coach of the Year – Steve Hansen (Nuova Zelanda)

World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year – Maro Itoje (Inghilterra)

World Rugby Men’s Sevens Player of the Year – Seabelo Senatla (Sudafrica)

World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year – Charlotte Caslick (Australia)

World Rugby Referee Award – Alhambra Nievas (Spagna) e Rasta Rasivhenge (Sudafrica)

Vernon Pugh Award for Distinguished Service – Syd Millar

Award for Character – Federazione austriaca per il progetto Rugby Opens Borders

IRPA Special Merit Award – Jean de Villiers, (Sudafrica)

IRPA Try of the Year – Jamie Heaslip (Irlanda)
