Classifica Giro d’Italia 2024: Uijtdebroeks guadagna una posizione, Pogacar leader, 6° Fortunato

Emessi i verdetti nella quarta tappa del Giro d’Italia 2024. Nella Acqui Terme-Andora di 190 km le aspettative erano quelle di un arrivo in volata. Si è lasciato il Piemonte e in Liguria la carovana ha posto il proprio marchio. Una frazione non scontata, che nella prima parte presentava una strada in costante ascesa fino a raggiungere i mille metri del Colle del Melogno.

Per arrivarci sono stati affrontati un GPM di terza categoria di una decina di chilometri con una pendenza media del 6%. Dallo scollinamento mancavano 100 chilometri al traguardo. A seguire una discesa fino a Savona. Dal capoluogo di provincia si è percorsa tutta l’Aurelia, come nella Milano-Sanremo, con ultimo strappo il Capo Mele (1,5 km al 5.1%), che poteva dare adito ad azioni prima dello sprint.

Ci ha provato Pippo Ganna a far saltare il banco, con un’azione da finisseur negli ultimi 4 km, ma grande lavoro della Lidl-Trek, con Simone Consonni che ha trascinato Jonathan Milan e bravissimo quest’ultimo a prendersi il successo, la seconda della carriera nel Giro e la quarta nel 2024. Uno sprint potentissimo del corridone nostrano. Niente da fare per l’australiano Kaden Groves (Alpecin – Deceuninck), secondo, e per il tedesco Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain – Victorious), terzo.

Per quanto riguarda la classifica generale, Tadej Pogacar rimane leader della classifica generale. Il campione dell’UAE Team Emirates guida la graduatoria con 0:46 sul britannico Geraint Thomas e 0:47 sul colombiano Daniel Felipe Martinez. In casa Italia il migliore è Lorenzo Fortunato in sesta piazza con 1:07 di ritardo da Pogacar. Da sottolineare che il belga Cian Uijtdebroeks ha guadagnato 1″ con l’abbuono. In questo modo si è preso la quarta posizione a 0:55 dalla vetta, scavalcando il colombiano Einer Rubio (+0.56).
