14.56 Thank you for following the Austrian GP qualifying session with us. Keep following OA Sport for more stories, updates, comments, news and video. Enjoy the rest of the day!

14.55 1’23″450 the qualifying time for Viñales followed by Miller, behind of 0.068 and Quartararo 0.087. Behind the top three, in order, P. Espargaro, Mir, Morbidelli, Rins, Zarco, Nakagami, Oliveira and Rossi.

14.53 Pole position number 10 in MotoGP for Maverick Viñales.

14.51 MAVERICK VINALES TAKES THE POLE POSITION! The first pole position of the season for Viñales. Miller takes P2 in extremis. Quartararo in the third position.

14.50 Checked flag!

14.49 Quartararo in P2, only 0.087 behind Viñales. Dovizioso in P3, behind 0.156.

14.49 VINALES IMPROVES AGAIN AND STAYS IN P1. DOVIZIOSO IN P2.

14.48 MORBIDELLI gets into P3 after the first half of Q2 without showing his true potential.

14.46 Rossi improves his time, but it is not enough and stays in P8 for now, three-tenths of a second away from Viñales. Although the soft tyre, he cannot improve significantly.

14.44 Rossi is the first back on track with a medium tyre in the front and soft in the back. He could have two attempts, one cool-down lap and a last attempt at the end.

14.42 8 minutes left. Viñales in the lead followed by, in order, Quartararo, Mir, Miller, Rins, Dovizioso, P. Espargaro, Rossi and Zarco.

14.41 Viñales takes the lead in 1’23″694. Quartararo behind him only by 0.022! Close race to take the pole position. Bad qualifying so far for P. Espargaro.

14.40 Miller is 0.072 from Quartararo.

14.38 Quartararo in the lead in 1’23″787 ahead of Viñales, Miller, Rins, Rossi and Morbidelli. Everyone is improving now…

14.36 Rossi has two medium tyres, same for his teammate Viñales. Olivera has hard in the front and soft in the back. Everyone else has the combination medium-soft.

14.35 Q2 STARTS NOW! Fifteen minutes to decide the starting grid of the first of the two races at the Spielberg Red Bull Ring.

14.33 The drivers in Q2 are Dovizioso, Zarco, Viñales, Quartararo, Morbidelli, Nakagami, Mir, Rins, Miller, P. Espargaro, Rossi and Oliveira.

14.32 Now Q2. The favourite for pole position is P. Espargaro from KTM. Dovizioso, who announced he will not be part of Ducati next year, will try to be the outsider in this session.

14.30 It is important for Rossi to start from the first or second row if he wants to reach his 200th podium in MotoGP, otherwise it would be almost impossible to reach that goal.

14.28 Zarco and Rossi move into Q2. Eliminated Petrucci, A. Espargaro, Crutchlow, Lecuona, Binder, A. Marquez, Bradl, Smith, Rabat, Pirro.

14.27 There is a bit of drama between Petrucci and A. Espargaro. The latter obstructed Petrucci during his qualifying lap. The Italian did not take it well and both on track and in the pit lane showed the finger to Espargaro who has already apologised.

14.26 There is a reason if Valentino Rossi is the legend of this sport.

14.25 ROSSI! With an incredible lap, at the last possible chance, Valentino Rossi improves his time and takes P2 behind Zarco and ahead of Petrucci.

14.24 Last attempt for everyone.

14.23 Petrucci is only 0.108 behind Zarco, Rossi is almost out of Q2.

14.22 Petrucci is improving and is consolidating his P2 behind Zarco.

14.21 Rossi does not improve his time with fresh tyres. It’s hard for the DOC to move into Q2 today.

14.20 Zarco in the pits and it does not seem he wants to go back on track. He probably feels safe enough to move into Q2.

14.19 Valentino Rossi on track again after changing the tyres. Now, he has a medium in the front and a soft in the back.

14.17 Zarco is shining. The French rider confirms a great momentum after the podium in Brno.

14.16 At the moment, Rossi would not go into Q2 with 8 minutes remaining.

14.15 ZARCO with an incredible time keeps the lead in 1’23″865. Petrucci follows with 0.412 seconds delay and Rossi behind 0.430.

14.13 Zarco in the lead now in 1’24″704, Rossi behind him by 0.030.

14.10 QUALIFYING STARTS NOW! Only the top two will go into Q2. The others will start from grid position 13. The riders in Q1 are Rossi, Zarco, Bradl, Petrucci, Lecuona, Binder, Crutchlow, Smith, A. Espargro, Pirro, Rabat and A. Marquez.

14.08 At the moment it is cloudy in Austria, but it should not rain during qualifying.

Good afternoon and welcome to the LIVE qualifying updates of the Austrian GP 2020, the fourth round of this year MotoGP. At the Spielberg Red Bull Ring, we will see very intense and spectacular qualifying session, with uncertain weather conditions and with unpredictable performance on the qualifying lap. Last year, Marc Marquez got the pole position with the track record, but this year, the Spaniard cannot repeat himself as he is still out due to injury.

Without the Marquez, this year world title is there for everyone to take. Fabio Quartararo (Petronas) will do his best to forget the past weekend; Brad Binder (KTM) will try to replicate his success from last week, and Franco Morbidelli (Petronas) will use the momentum and the joy of his first podium to qualify in the first positions.

Lights out at 14.10 with Q1.  OA Sport is offering you the LIVE updates of the Austrian GP 2020: real-time and minute by minute updates, not to miss any action at the Spielberg Red Bull Ring. Enjoy!
